girl trap in MRT gap

With one leg wedged tightly in the gap between an MRT train and the station plate form, it wasn't the most comfortable 15 minutes for a 15-year-old girl. The girl found herself caught, when she was alighting at Bugis station shortly before 5pm, in the second such incident this year. Because of this the west-bound train services between Aljunied and Outram Park stations needed to wait for 20 minutes.

Korean couple get killed

Masked men shot dead a Korean couple in their northern Philippines home as their two terrified children hid and watchedthem die. Mr Oh Young Kwan,38, and his wife Lee Hyen Koung,36, were killed in Go-Hayang Ville on Christmas Day but the incident was not reported to he police until the next morning. pakistan President Perver Musharraf said yesterday that extremism and terrorism were destroying both pakistan and Afghanistan. Another boxing day tragedy

Exactly three years to the day the Asian tsunami toopk about 168,000 lives in Indonesia, the country was hit by another calamity on boxing day yesterday, with dozens killed in landslides triggered by torrential rains. Landslides hit villages in the densely populated Karanganyar and Wonogiri districts in Central Java, with floods also sewlling in several areas. Volunteers dug desperately with their bare hands, hoping to find survivors while they waited for heavy equipment to arrive. At least 42 have been confirmed dead and scores missing in Central Java, with the number of casualties expected to rise.

Pilgrims die in brige collapse

At least 11 people died and hundreds on religious pilgrimage were missing after an overcrowed bridge collapse in western Nepal yesterday, police and officials said. Nearly 400 people were said to have been on the brige across a gorge over the Bheri River, 380km west of the capital Kathmandu, when it collapsed.

Alleged bomb-maker caught in UK

A 38 year old man was charged on monday was intending to carry out a terrorist attack. Mr Hassan Mohammed Sabri Al Tabbakh, from Birmingham, is accused of compiling a document with instructions on how to make a bomb and stockpile chemicals for such a device. The court had heard that Mr Tabbakh had been arrested near his home in Birmingham last teusda. He was charged on saturday with an offence under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Mr midnight: My creepy computer

One day Ashraf and his younger brother,Hafiz, were playing X-men when suddenly the computer srceen went blank than there was a "HELP" word flashing on the srceen. Ashraf and his brother tried to tell their father but he did not care. At night Ashraf heard sound coming from the computer. She saw the mouse glowing. On the screen of the computer she saw words saying click the mouse. So Ashraf click the mouse, the computer than gave answers to Ashraf for his homework. The computer even knew the answers when it has not been asked. At school Ashraf answered all the questions and get it all right. Back at home the computer told Ashraf that he is a alien who was from a team in space called the starship. The alien did all Ashraf homework and did his compo. The computer help him but he find it very creepy and tried to get rid of it. One day the computer said the starship are back to get the alien. The starship will be sending omega rays to get him back. At noon Ashraf set him computer outside. Suddenly a beem of light shine on the computer. They was red light coming from the computer than it stop. The alien was gone. When Ashraf went back, paper flew out from the printer , on the paper were answer which could last him for tell he is a grown up.

The searh for Amelia Earhart who disappered while trying to fly around the world has been missing. Amelia and navigator Fred Noonan began their journey on June. They had travel 35,000km over 21 days. Their next stop was Howland island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. On the way they use their radio to speak to coast guardon july 2th. but all communication suddenly stopped. From that day on no one had heard of them.

Black death wiped out city

A disease know as black death. It had killed 259 people and 350 people almost died. Peolpe who get black death can die between 3 to 4 days. Symptoms of the black death include lumps, black bruises, fever, cough and sneezing. Because of fear that the disease could spread, people nailed shut their doors and marked their door with a big x. There are guards who keep watch to make sure they do not escape from the country. If they do so they will also afect other country.

Harry Houdin, the famous magician and escape artist died yesterday. He died in addition to his magic trick. He invited a student to punch him. The student punch him four times. One of the blow hit his appendix and swell his entire abdomen. He fac turn pale and he could not speak for a moment. When he came back his wife brought him to the doctor. The doctor asked him to stay home to rest but him did not took the advice. After the show he was rushed to the hospital. Harry died in the hospital.

Krakatoa Erupts

On Aug 26 1883 a volcano on Krakatoa island erupted producing a deadly explosion so powerful they were heard and falt all over the world. The volcano spat out tonnes of hot ash, gas and rock. The ash shooting higher into the air and raining down on the neighbouring island of sumatra where it killed 1,000 people immediately. The eruption which began around midday local time on aug 26 and ended yesturday with four gigantic blasts has sent clouds of ash high into the earth's atmosphere.

Woman jailed for not giving up seat on the bus

On December 6 1955 An African American woman was covicted of breaking the law when she did not want to give up her seat on the bus. The incident took place on the evening as Mrs Rosa Park, a 42 year old was on her way back home from the department store. On the bus she sat on a seat reserved for whites. Soon all the seat for whites where filled, so when another white came on the bus Mrs Park needed to move out but she refused to. " Why don't you stand up " the driver asked her. "I don't think I needed so "she replied. The driver called te police. She was arrested and was put in jail.

Cambodian monks clash with police

40 cambodian monks fough with police, knocking one unconscious before being beaten back with a baton. 16 people were injured in the clash which started because 100 of police refused to allow the monks to approach the Vietnamese Embassy in the Cambodian capital. Police used baton to bit the monks who pelt water bottles at the police.

Cut it out

The Russian goverment said men in Russia needed to pay a tax of 100 roubles ($5. 95) a year to keep their beard and they must wear a medal that says beards are a silly ornament. Czar Peter thinks beards are oldfashioned and wants to make it expensive for men to keep their beards. To lead the way, peter had ordered his own court members to cut off theirs first. He also made them throw away their raditional Russian clothing and wear grabs. It is even said that he plan to change the date of New Year's Day, moving it from Sept to Jan.

War victims

Douc Langur is one of the most beatiful monkey as it has dalicate features and almond-shaped eyes. The Douc Langur are rarely seen as people hunt them to make medicine. There are fewer Douc Langur when the war start at Vietnam. They were killed by bombs and there home shrinks by the days. Singapore zoo are breeding this monkeys so they would not extinct. In this year four Douc Langur was born.

China ban foot binding

Some people believe that having a smaller feet means that the women is prettier. This people who believe in it bind their feet. There was one woman who had bound her feet ,now her feet is 75cm only. First they soak the feet into hot water and it will soften. The toes of the feet will bent under so that they press against the feet, then a bandage is wrapped under the feet. Every day they will tighten the bandages so it shrinks and become deformed. They banned this becaused it is cruel and it could cost a disease which can be deadly.

The holiday at Taiwan

I had a holiday at Taiwan during the December holiday. The flight took me four and a half hours. The temperature was around 20 degrees.

The few places I like are the Flying cow ranch, the 8 wounder of the world and the Chihpen hot spring. The Flying cow ranch was very interesting. Over there I got to milk the cow and feed the goats. I even get to make butter. It was nice there.

We bought a lot of things from Taiwan such as Lin Zhi which is supposed to be good for our body.

We stayed there for eight days. I had lots of fun so I hope I could go there again.

Animal rescue

Zoos used to be a entertainment centre, tigers, Orang utan and other animals crammed together so visitors could see them easily. Now animal parks provide a safe place for endangered animals to breed. Singapore zoo houses 2,530 animals from 315 species. The 315 species includs b50 endangered animals example the pygmy hippo, douc langur, nubian ibex, proboscis monkey, and more.

Voom in the city

Singapore may host a f1 race. Cars will be going around with a speed of 300kmh in the city. Singapore want this f1 race to attract tourist. The race will take place at Marina Bay, where a pontoon is being build to where the National Parade and other sports will be held. A german named Hermann Tilke had came out with a few ideas how would the track look like. The f1 racing will be held from March to October.

Veg out

The price of vegetable had increase because there was a flood in Malaysia which destory the vegetable. Singapore had imports 300 tonnes of vegetable from Malaysia. Now Singapore are trying to import vegetable from Thialand, Vietnam , china and Australia. Singapore and Malaysia are fighting for vegetable from Thialand.

All-a-flutter

There are 275 species which has been identified. Local plants have been cleared and replace with pest-resistant so pest could not destory the plant. You can be a butterfly buddy by cultivating a garden for caterpillars and necting plant for butterfly. The plant must not have pesticide or it ma kill the butterflies and the caterpillars. Then you will see butterfiles fluttering in your own home.

War looms ahead

80,000 British needed to move to safer parts of the country as British is having a war with Germany. On september 1 1,5 million people was evacuated. Those childen which was evacuated needed to stay with foster families.

Taj Mahal

Yesterday Taj Mahal was build. Taj Mahal was build by Shah Jahan to put his wife tomb. It needed 20,000 people to buil it. Taj Mahal took 22 years for the completion of it. Few days later Shah Jahan saw a girl in the bazaar and fell in love with her. She was called Mumtaz Mahal. They both got married and had 13 chilren. When Mumtaz Mahal was giving birth to the 14 child see died.

The big split

After a short unhappy marrige Singapore and malaysia split up. This happened two years after Singapore and malaysia join together. Malaysia's Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, said that Singapore would stop to be a part of Malaysia. Mr Lee Kuan Yew tried to change Tunku 's mind, but it did not work. Singapore and Malaysia are separated but they still continue to worktogether on things such as trading and defence.

Scientist on trial admit mistake.

A scientist says that the sun move around the earth instead of the other way. Galileo the scientist said that how do they know if they did not use a telescoup. Galileo was convinced that once a scientist use this device they will have the same opinion. They told Galiloe not to speak about this anymore. Few years later, Galiloe wrote a bookwhich repeated the claims. Galiloe has disobey the order. Galiloe needed to admit that he was wrong and he was sentenced to jail. The book he wrote was banned.
