Komodo Dragon
The komodo dragon is related to dinosaurs. They have roamed the earth for 300 million years. The komodo dragon can grow to a length of 3.1 metre and weigh 116kg. Komodo dragons are the largest lizard in the world. They can grow to a gigantic size because of their healthy appetite. The komodo dragon "smells" things by using its tongue. They usually hunt by waiting motionless along a trail for hours and ambushing prey. Their saliva contains 200 different strains (types) of bacteria. Once an animal is bitten by the komodo dragon, there is almost no chance of surviving.
Amazing flying mammals
Bats are mammals which can fly. There are two kinds of bats - insect eating bats and fruit eating bats. The Malayan flying foxes are the largest bats in the world. They have a wingspan of up to 1.7 metres long. They are named flying fox because they have a fox like face and they can fly. Deforestation are killing them and distroying their homes.
